I'm weighing up the pro's and con's of getting one. I'm only 19 with 1yrs NCB, so the insurance on a GTi is gonna be a no no. However, a 1.6 isn't out of the question.

Its probably gonna have to be a Mark3 aswell. Or an early Mark4.

Anyone had one or know a bit about them performance wise? Also any stuff I should look out for?

Thanking you

get the 1.9 tdi, only insurance group 8, plus you can get over 200 bhp from them

basically too upgrade it upto 110 bhp spec just change for 110 bhp spec injectors, then use a chip etc.. these together bring 145 bhp, then get a 4 branch manifold another 14 bhp, they love induction kits so a little bit more, full exhaust even more power as these work really well on td's can also get highleft cams for the 1.9 vag engine.

there is loads of performance parts for em, personally i recommend getting one of those instead, i was gonna get a 1.8t golf but now going for a 1.9 tdi 110 or 115. plus even with all that tuning work they still do stock mpg as boost pressure isnt really increased much.

u aint gonna get much performance wise on mk3 & mk4 petrols if you cant afford the insurance.

mk3 TDi would be a good buy but u dont see many about!

the mk2 driver can be more or less made into an 8v gti by simply changing the cam & manifold to that of a GTi.

flamedcorsab, that mk2 looks horrible!
