Subaru is preparing to unleash the most extreme version of the Impreza ever seen on the road. According to reports from Japan, the company is preparing a limited edition road-going version of its World Rally Car and the model could be in Japanese showrooms by the end of the year. The car will be hand-built by Subaru's Isesaki studio. The car could be the first of a number of limited edition Subarus as Isesaki is planning to concentrate on low-volume production models.

The fastest Impreza ever developed is set to blast from rally stage to the road later this year, according to Subaru sources in Japan. Company bosses are talking about bringing a limited-edition production version of the Impreza World Rally Car to Japanese showrooms by December. It's known as the WRCar road-going project.

While Isesaki's work is understood to be of the highest quality, the firm has only recently switched operations from manufacturing buses to concentrate on designing special interest, low-volume production models. As strange as this might seem, Isesaki has a long association with tuned Subarus.

Most memorably, the company was responsible for the outrageous-looking red-and-black chopped-top Impreza, which was unveiled at the Tokyo Auto Salon in January. Lowered by 100mm, the car demonstrated the firm's skills in making complex structural modifications, and its engine tuning expertise. However, according to our insider, the WRCar project will be a more straightforward affair.

When the real one costs 10 times that, yeah. Don't forget, the road going Opel Astra DTM ended up a little pricey. Its a cheap racing car, not an expensive showroom model.

in order to enter the WRC the company have to build and sell (or make available to the public) 50,000 of the exact car they are going to rally. Same body work engine ect.

Peugeot had one at a show the other month, it cost around £250k. the clutch on its own cost £6k. and that aint a joke thats a fact from the horses mouth.
