when you isolate a piece of equipment by means of a lock off at a distribution board. You should then test it for voltage to make sure it is dead.
What should you test between? is it earth and live, earth and neutral and then neutral and live?

its definately between live and earth, and live and neutral, just too be sure! Continuity he wants to make sure he aint gonna get a shock by isolating a circuit so he has to test the point hes working at as one circuit may have more than one appliance connected! of course i hope you are conforming to the bs7671 16th regs?

its for a training course I've got to do in a couple of weeks. We have to demostrate that we could isolate and lock off a supply for work to be carried out. I knew it was earth and live, I just wanted to see if people recommended testing between live-neutral and neutral-earth.
Go to remember the rest of the procedure. think its:
turn off, isolate, lock off and secure key, display correct sign, check meter with proving unit, test circuit, check meter again then restart system
(edited to add - restart system)
