How much more popular do you think the 1.6 16v would have been if it was 120bhp?

Not much I dont think, its the GSI bodykit that people went for thats why the GSI model is more popular.

depends what the extra 11-14hp did. the handling was never in the league of the VTS and certainly did not have the grunt of the GT.

Not if the insurance group was even higher than it ended up being.
There may have been a marketplace for something quicker and better equipped than the 97-on 1.6i Sport. What else was out around that time? 206 GTi?

Corsa Sport was a joke in terms of peformance and insurance grouping...
it really amazed me that at that time it was the flagship corsa...yes only had 106BHP...a poor effort from vauxhall...
as for the handling I need not mention it only that the word "porridge" comes to mind...for a so called hot hatch it truley was dismal...

GSI looks different and set apart fomr other corsa's with bodykit...sport is too similar to the normal corsa's... this is one of its downfalls

Hehe! Looking back i should of bought a 1.6 Sport/GSi instead of the 1.4, but i struggled to insure that!
Saw a nice black GSi once, would that have been an import? looked totally standard.
