Just bought a set of halfords xeon 50% brighter bulbs from halford, the most expensive ones i could find.
In daylight they look no brighter (i left one of the old ones in to begin with to compare).
Do you think i'll see an improvement from them once its dark?

Did you use the original wiring plug or just buy spade connectors for them?
I bet it's a pain in the arse to get the new wires through to the switch!

I bought Phillips Blue Vision bulbs from powerbulbs a few months back.
They are loads better than standard bulbs, and really do improve driving visability at night.
Here you can see the difference on full bean
before...
after...
and here are the lights close up, as you can see no yellow in the new bulbs

After....

Yeah.....
Homepage - http://www.powerbulbs.com
H7 Bulbs - http://www.powerbulbs.com/products/product.php?prodid=pbv&type=H7
You will need 2sets - one for dipped beam and one for full beam ...... you will get the side lights free and also get a spare set.

Powerbulbs seem to give a good service, used them twice with next day delivery both times.
Remember that the 50% brighter claim is not that the bulbs produce 50% more light - that would not be road legal. It's just that such bulbs are supposed to produce a better focussed beam to deliver the 50% more light where it is most useful. Osram Silverstar have made a difference to my Corsa C but I think it's the headlamp design which is probably the limiting factor. Perhaps the very latest HID lamp design is better. Anyone tried them?
