It means an expensive repair
To get rid of it, take the bulb out

Just kidding, it could be any number of things. You can read the fault code using the paper clip method, or take it to Vauxhall, where they will use the Tech 2 to tell you the problem, but they'll charge you £40 for the priveledge.

quick test to do, if the paperclip shows up nothing, just check the tension of the fan belt (crank to alternator), sometimes if its loose and it slips a bit, it can cause this light to come on, also check the throttle cable, if its sticking & the throttle isn't closing fully, the light will come on after driving for a bit or idling, but go out again when taken above 3000rpm for about 30 secs, so would be intermittent then too

Go to http://www.topbuzz.co.uk , click on 'Information' on the left hand side panel, then in the main page click on Technical Guides, and Reading ECU Fault Codes.
As Kerry says, it might be nothing, but it could also be a warning that something expensive is likely to happen.

Mine was also doing this, just came on now and again for no apparent reason - never stayed on for long.
It did it rarely so I didn't think much of it. It stopped and hasn't been on since when driving.
