Hey All
I've got a Corsa B 99 Sxi V reg 2000. i've been told that the car doesn't hfave a cam belt but a drive chain and it doesn't need changing till about 100k is this right ?

well i got told this by a mechanic who said he had asked vauxhall and that's what they told him???

if its a diesel then it will have a drive train and i dont know when they need changing as ive never owned one.
all vaux petrol engines have a timing belt which is supposed to be changed every 60k i change mine every year.

The 1.0 12v and 1.2 16v have cam chains.
These last longer than a belt but i'm not sure about 100k

ignore the mechanic and go buy urself a new timing belt he obviously cant be arsed changing it. its an easy job anyway

thought it was around 40k now? 60k seems a little high!

I thought that all vaux petrol engines had cam belts but the 1.2 16v has a chain vaux thought this would be a good idea on the later models with the 1.2 engine but i don't know y

thanks for everyone's replies i've just check with vauxhall and they said it is a timing chain and only needs changing when i start to hear noises from it. normally starts around 60k

yes your car has cam chain same as mine you need to change it at 60k

i wouldn't risk it, they are prone to snapping early,
i'd change it every 30k, 40k at the most.

Mines getting quite noisey now after 48K hard miles!! If it can just hang on along with the ICV and front left wheel bearing and balljoints until April when the new 20XE lump goes in
