i read in revs that if they pull you they inform your insurance company too, and if they are over a certain percentage they can impound your car!

Are we talking 35% tint, or 35% light transmission
I Just got 30% tint all round on my pug (70% light transmission), and thats not legal.

Yep i spun my car infront of 2 cop cars and 4 officers when the car infront of me slammed his anchors on thinking he was funny (were were racing but dont tell no one LOL) they were stood about 20 yards from where my car stopped. i had to talk to them for 20 minutes by my car which has illegal tints and they didnt even mention it, i had a blue neon light as well that light up the interior and that was on the whole time i spoke to them, i wouldn't worry too much about it they are pretty good the cops they even let me off and gave the other guy a ticket!!!

In the MOT u can fail due to tinted windows. I m8 of mine had limo black installed in his motor and they failed him for it. From wot i know ur only allowed the light smoked tint on ur front to windows, but ur can put anything u want on the back 3. Ur not meant to tint the front windscreen at all as this is dangerous!

You cant be failed an mot for "any film applied to windows or mirrors" as long as it isnt on the windscreen.
If the tester fails you on drivers view of the road, get him to check his MOT guidelines as they're only meant to check the windscreen.
They can fail you if the tester cant see behind him thought due to too much tint.
Its still illegal though, just not checked on the MOT.
If the film only blocks 30% then it'll probably be illegal as a clear window doesn't allow 100% light through and the 30% film will take you below the 70% vlt level.
Just depends on luck though if you get pulled and have the vlt checked!
I was pulled the other week and checked all the laws at the local library, even got an mot with front side tints that only allow 10% light in, at the same MOT station the police use!
