My Silvia used to do that, dodgy and dangerous as it cuts when yhou pull out in traffic.

Was something to do with, as Kerry said, Auto choke fuel enrichment, the sensor was fooked. When its cold its worse, this one measures the water temp and en riched the fuel accordingly, when its cold the nengine takes longer to warm up and it cuts out more.

If you take it a Vaux dealer, or someone with the right test equip, they plug the ecu into a machine which gives them a code for whats wrong.

Like if the fuel choke sensor was bust it would give the corresponding code.

sounds like a fuel issue 4 sure, my nova did same kinda thing - turned out to be plastic/rubber fuel pipe had collapsed inside so would only let a little fuel through at low revs.....
