i used to play Halflife year ago and was very good at it aswell 
as for counter strike i beta tested the first copy and maps for Gooseman (the maker) years ago

we play at work. got 8 machines set up, 4 in on room and 4 in another. Such a good game I think, the playabilty is brill.

I played pretty solidly about a year ago. used to skive off work to play it hardcore stylee. Remeber stayin up through the night refusing to sleep because of it. i will not touch it now in fear of gettin hooked again.

i played since beta 0.1 came out and stopped playing wen version 1.6 came out, got sick of it, i used to play without a crosshair,
i prefer medal of honour now tho..
