13 mate...

I ahve thought about this myself.. cos my girlfriend house has 13 so does all/most of my mates... it has troubled me for a while.. Then i just guessed that all houses have that many... Almost like a "standard"

There are set measurements that staircases have to stick too, most houses will have a similar distance between ground and first floor, dividing this by 13 gives a suitable rise

the average set of stairs are normally 18inches for tread and riser the width can vary but normally around 80-85cms you will need 6.5linear metres to carpet one set of straight stairs

My house is 3 stories. I am currently on top floor, and to go to my bedroom i have to go down 29 steps

and yes, i was pissed not long ago and had a tumble from middle floor to bottom which was not nice.
