can anyone tell me wot one of these actually is, i no its something that produces an electrical signal from the gearbox to tell the dash your speed, but how come you need exactly the right one? what defines wot you need, is it the gearbox, engine size, number of valves, wot?
im currently working on a sentaor digital dash idea, but im a twat so i forgot to get the transducer when i was getting the dash
cheers for any help

erm, i believe a transducer is something that will give you a relative output for a relative input. for example, a current transducer might give so many amps for a given number of volts thats input into it.
in your case, i think you will have somekind of tachometer (something that will give you a frequency output (rpm maybe?) from your wheels to give you a frequency proportional to your speed, and then i assume the transducer converts this frequency into either a voltage level, or current level, so that your digidash can show a speed.
i am only guessing, but thought i'd comment since you've had no other replies

ERm..... you will be VERY lucky to find another transducer that will work. go back and get the transducer from the car the dash came from.

on a serious note there are 6 types for them the chance of you getting the right one is slim and getting them all is an expewnsive option

yea, but there must be a way of knowing which one i need, as it must be defined by something, for example type of gearbox.
getting the one from the exact same car i fear is not an option, but surely anything electrical signal that changed with wheel rotation would be usable
