Anyone know anything about betting?

If a team are at 40/1 to win a league and you bet each way how does this effect the bet. Ami I right in thinking u would still win something if the finished second or maybe 3rd? and how much would u win with a £10 stake ??

if somthin is 40 - 1 if u put 1£ on it. u win 40£ back... so if u put a 10er on ull win 400£
depends on each way... depends how many odd are on the bet... if its a horse race n there 10 or more runers each way pays up to 4th place... but ya stake is doubled! so a 1£ bet each way on a 10 - 1 would cost ya 2£ to put on n dependin how many horses/teams/dogs, whatever were in the race depends on what position youd need to finish to be paye dout on

it football teams?... depends what bookies u go then... some give better than others... for each place on each way the price gets cut... so better just goin for the win....
