My mate from work says his mam is getting a ford Ka.

Now I know that Ka's aren't the best cars in the world but its brand new and apparently she is getting it for £3000 ish.

Something to do with pre-registration or something.

Sorry I don’t have more information. I was hoping one of you lot would know something.

Anyone got any ideas why it is so cheap? Does this happen often? Does it happen on different makes and models?

How can I get my hands on one?

I'm a bit sceptical myself but he is adament she is getting it.

few years back when i was lookin at vectras i saw one on the forecourt of hartwells and it was a similar thing

i think basically its when a car has been manufactured but not registered straight away so has been stood about somewhere for maybe 6 months hence the decrease in value even though its stil a new car

might be wrong though

only thing i can think of is its a demonstation model?

my dad once bought an old escort new very cheap as it was not standard spec, it had pop out rear windows as it was made in some far east country and was classed as faulty for some unknown reason, he got that cheap even tho everything else on the car was as it should be, it just had pop out rear 1/4 windows :s

Dealers sometimes pre register cars, something to do with performance figures. They then have to sell them off cheap as they already have one owner on the log book and are hence 'second hand'.

3k seems far too cheap though.

Pre-registration can be done for a number of reasons - to meet targets, for cars damaged in transit that can't be sold as new, cars refused before collection (ie. incorrect spec) etc.

Most manufacturers unofficially endorse it as a way of getting rid of things that can't sell at new price. You'll usually save a bit of cash.
