once uve went down to the finest compound of wet n dry finish it off with some autosol metal polish, its very slightly abrahsive and gives that final finish.
then just give it a go over now and again to restore the shine.
Good luck boss

i started with 180 grit to get all the well stuck on stuff off, then went to a 400grit using a bit of water with it, then moved down the grades of wet and dry to 1200 grit, gonna use a compound next, that head hasnt had the 1200grit stage finished coompletely only in places, there are allot of casting marks on the covers use ya 180 grit to flatten these out, dont press too hard the deeper the scratches the more ya gotta polish, sand it all quite lightly, started doing my air flow meter too, cos thats small i got a near mirror finish

I poished my rocker cover and as soon as it got wet it tarnished and I was back to square one! Personally i'd take the bits off, take them to a metal polishers and then get them chrome plated if you talk nicely to your local chrome platers. It will cost (approx £50-£100) but when you work out its allready took you 6hours... and it will come out mirror finish! Unless you treat it it will just tarnish again in no time!
