my 1.6 sport has blown 4 valves and is only running on 3 cylinders. the garage says it is recomended to replace all sixteen vavles plus you have to have the head reskimmed, re-torqed and new cambelt all at a cost of £800. vauxhall garage says it is a common fault on corsa,s. they dont tell you that when you buy it do they. im well cheesed off. so ive cut my losses and traded it in for a clio sport which i get on monday morning. just wanted to let everyone know about this expensive common fault so be carefull.

you cant blow a valve?
you can blow a valve stem seal
only way a valve can go is if the cambelt goes and the valves twat the piston

u sure he hasnt disconnected a plug lead? or loosened a spark plug?

id get a 2nd opinion m8

im only telling you what ive been told. ive had it checked by vauxhall and a mate of mine who has got his own garage. ive got no compression from cylinder 3 all cables and leads have been checked. the reason they said to replace all valves was that they have done all the same milage and it is recommended to replace all sixteen. theres nothing wrong with the cambelt only had it changed just b4 christmas and no i wasnt thrashing the arse of it i take great pride in my car.

sticky valves are common due to carbon deposits, but i find engine flush and de-coke then limiter all way down local b road in fourth gear is ggod enough

i was also told that they wouldnt know how much damage has been done untill they took the head off. how much for a piston ring? when he told me £800 i thought fook it and traded it in for a brand new clio.

more than likely sticky valves. only two possible ways for valve to go faulty. cambelt snap, mong up timing, valve slap into piston, or deposits of carbon build up on valve stem causing valve to stick in guide therefore not creating any vacuum in cyl 3, therefore no compression. this will result in lost spark and unburnt fuel in cylinder three, which then gets egr valve working over time. still will find that car runs shite, and deposits black smoke from exhaust. common problem on x14xe,x16xe,x16xel engines. main reason for failure is due to not bein driven hard enough, hence why carbon build ups.

i thought at first i had a spark plug down or timing had thrown itself out. so when i took it greenhouses at newcastle they checked it over ruled out what i thought and told me what ive told you. if what your saying is true corsabubble they should just say the problem is inside the engine but we wouldnt know exactly what is wrong untill they take the head off. it sounds like ive been told a bag of shite and making me think it was proper fooked. b@st@rds
