Hate to muscle in on this thread....
The Old 2.0 Engines, 130 bhp and 115, surprising amount of torque, even the Carlton 2.0 was a good puller.
The main issue may not be the weight of the engine, but the hassle of fitment and associated parts, which may mean its better to spend more money and get the 2.0 valver.

i agree with daimo. altho i wouldnt contemplate putting a 2.0 8v in my corsa coz it would have to be a 16v purely for looks. the 8v motor is a cheaper alternative as engines cost pennies, they r also a relaible engine and cheaper to repaire than a 16v. my m8 has one in his nova which is very rapid...

just cuz its a 8v dont mean it wont be rapid. MSD developed a 1.8 8v tuned to 280bhp in a nova. thats impressive

Issachunt are doing 12 1/4 mile in their 2.0 8v Turbo converted nova.
Oh yeah, 8v are easier to turbo than the 16v also. But then the 16v already ahve a turbo fitted in the LET so cancels that one out

2.0 8v is a good engine, very tough, with 130 BHP on tap its not gonna be slow
