as above cheap as poss but good job not looking to spend a fortune like these ones and if its too much then how hard is it to build them!
does anybody have a step by step guide?

i havnt done it before m8 but i hear its not that difficult.....Firstly, make an mdf ring and then make mdt supports around it i.e. legs
Then go to b&q and get sum cheap mesh, some people use other things. then bang p40 ( i think thats the one) over this, then sand until the shape is right, then use p38 and wet and dry with different gradients until it is like glass smooth then spray or cover

door poods hmm
start with a flat piece of mdf as your base bit it needs to be fairly thin (4-6mm) and cut to fit the part of door panel you wish it to go, then as mentioned above cut several rings of mdf that and build up to the point where there is sufficient clearance for the magnet to fit in (oh yeah make sure the rings are about 10-15 mm bigger than speaker). Glue the rings together with a strong bond wood glue, then make sure the speakers fit.
Then you need to smooth out the irregularities where the rings of MDF join, and can be done in several ways, maybe using p38 or equivalent, then meshing and fibreglassing once all dried
