Did a nice 350 mile round trip today to Nottingham and on the way followed a nice grey corsa Gsi. I gotta say i was amazed at the speed of it. I've got the 1.4 16v Sport but on the motorway he was pulling away from me so much. Much bigger difference than i thought it would be. Saw a Ferrari 550 as well!! Tried following that - but no luck! Anyways my random comments over now!

i always wondered how much faster they are, i have a 1.4 sport too, and it seems nippy but not very fast, just runs out of steam too quick....
i see a ginger horse today..

once 1.6's get to 3rd, 4th gear should pull away from the 1.4's

It did cross my mind that he might have a 2.0 conversion - but the rest car was completely standard exteriorly so guessed the engine was standard also. Seemed bloody quick compared to my lil baby tho.

maybe he did.
would pull away but not by too much I would reckon.....Never raced a 1.4 on the motorway when I had my 1.6. sport.
raced a few gsi's though.....................

the bodywork may be standard, but it could be a sleeper with a 2.0 in it  . my bodywork is standard as it looks better and also saves weight

c16xe engines rated arounf 109 i think, compared to 86bhp ? for the 1.4 16v
can't see it pulling away massively, i have raced a gsi and beat it in mine but you would expect it, but his as said could have been a xe or a tunned 1.6

don't know as i have never driven it witha speedo, but it will be runnig a f15 box when it returns, so top spped will be same as gsi, 119, which is what the gearbox limits it to i belive
