Don't know if that is a little expensive - for the price I'd be also considering a Canon DSLR but I would, I own one hehe.
I've no experience of that cam - can you change lenses on it?

Develop your own film. I can only do black and white and its great fun!
Apparently colour developing/printing is more difficult but its not rocket science!

colour chemicals are a lot more expensive too, as well as the enlargers. Digital SLRs are supposed to be pretty good now, i doubt i could tell the difference, and as you said, they are a lot more convenient.

^^^thats it, i can't afford the chemicals, and i can't be arsed fannying around in a drak room etc. i'd rather just stick a cable into the camera and upload the pics onto computer.
