the new Alpine MRD-M501

IF the subs are both 1021D's as they can be wired to show a 2 ohm load. If they are both 1041D's then u r gonna need a 2 channel amp not a mono.

If they r the dual 4 ohm voicecoil version as Adi has already beaten me to sayin (lol) u wil need a 2 channel amp not a mono 1 to run at 2 ohms.

In order to wire at 2 ohms u need to run 1 sub off 1 channel of the 2 channel amp and the other sub of the remaining channel.

To wire the subs to run at 2 ohms u need wire the subs in parallel. Connect the positive from 1 voicecoil of the sub to the postive on the other voicecoil. Then connect to the postive on the amp.

Then wire the negative from 1 voicecoil to the negative on the other. Next connect to the negative on the amp.

This wil produce a 2 ohm load 2 each channel.

I could b wrong but not sure there is an Alpine 2 channel powerful enough for what u want.

I think the MRV-T420 is the most powerful Alpine 2 channel u can get and its 170x2 RMS at 2 ohms. U need 300RMS to get the best out your subs if im not mistaken.

shit wrote all that before u said u had 1021's, lol.

Yer its a good thing cos it does mean u have dual 2 ohm voicecoils and u can wire off a mono block 2 get a 2ohm load.

Do u want me to explain how to wire em 2 get a 2 ohm load off a single channel or do u no mate?

yer lik a circuit mate.

To get a 2 ohm load off a mono block from your subs u would wire them in series.

In basic terms u need to connect the negative from a voicecoil on 1 sub (eg. sub A) to the negative on voicecoil on the other sub (sub B). Then connect that to the negative on the amp.

Then connect the postive on sub A to the positve on sub b. then connect this to the positive on the amp.

Finally u need to link up the remaining positve and negative on each sub. For example the remaining positive to negative on sub A to each other and then the same on sub B.

If u want to stick to an Alpine amp u hav two options. As Adi suggested the MRD-M501 is 1 option and so is the MRD-M301.

The 501 wil produce 550RMS at 2 ohms and the 301 350RMS at 2 ohms so it all depends how hard u wanna run ya subs. There rated at 300RMS so the 301 may be enough for ya.
