good morning, just got an alpine 12" type R sub with a box from car audio security, what difference would it make if i was to port/vent the box?

Nine of of ten times a vented box needs to be larger. Porting would mean it lost its 'kick' but would be very loud in the sort of 45-65Hz range. Venting is pretty tricky as you cant just shove a vent in their, correct size and length MUST be calculated... Also I believe its fair to say the type R's are best sealed, I have two.
