Thinkin bout buying an old Corsa with a fucked engine and dropping in a 2.0 8v SRi lump...there is an unbelieveable amount of Cavs with these engines at the scrappy!
Do u need to stregthen the chassis like in NOva's?
Most of my mates are qualified mechanics so they'll be doin it...
How much do u reckon it will cost all in not including labour as i'l be gettin it for next to nowt.

I think you missed the point, he will be spending very little money on making it by the sounds of it. More of a "wonder if i can do this", ratehr than a propper conversion.
Do it (you can pic up a cav with the engine in for about £50 ), get it working propperly, run it for a while, then upgrade to the 16v

It wont cost £1500 to put a 2.0 8v lump into a Corsa.
You can drop a 16v in for that money.

it wont cost you 1500 quid for the 8v conversion,
its normaly 500 quid for fitting kit, 500 labour and 500 for engine - thats for the 16v,
500quid for fitting kit + say 100quid for the engine = 600quid
