on a 1200 16v, yes, it will be fairly pointless.
better than an induction kit but still pointless!
Why not drill your airbox?

Think I'll copy MikeH (same name and initial as mine ) and try to shield a K&N and get an air feed. If I can't find some hints to make the air feed I'll be coming back to you
