Yup, I tried getting a quote for a 1.8 Corsa Sri, and they told me to piss off basically, even though its only a group 8/9

Yeah, mate at work had an SE1 1.8 coupe in blue. Lovely interior. Same on the outside as the turbo (spoiler, chrome strip, 17"s)

The engine is very good for a 1800cc and not too bad on insurance.

test drove one was pleasenlty suprised at performance.

SE has a great trim and goodies.

I've got a 2.2 and my insurance is £840 fully comp with Halifax:- 21 years old, 4 years no claims which isn't bad.

1.8 isn't bad but u don't get a trip computer or cruise control. There are a few bargains on ebay at the mo

The 125bhp 1.8 was launched in 2002 when the 2.2 astra replaced the 2.0 astra, they uprated the 1.8 with 10bhp & a closer ratio gearbox to improve performance (i don t know why).

2.2 0-60mph in 8.03secs
1.8 0-60mph (125) 8.5secs
2.0 0-60mph 9.0secs
1.8 0-60mph (115) 9.5secs

(these are book figures), makes you wonder though why uprate the 1.8 to near performance of the new 2.2 engine it jus seems a bit starnge.

2.2 will be more refined at motorway speeds though, and will easily pull quicker than a 1.8 above 60

2.2 feels and pulls allot better than the 1.8. Maybe better in gear times than a standing 0-60

Oh yeah coruse the 2.2 is better in terms of power but for example the 1.8 SRI is exactly the same spec (except engine) only ins grp is 9 not sure what grp the 2.2 is. oh more efficient to.

Depends on credit, age, ncb etc
