Are you letting XP assign IP's or are you being creative and making up your own numbers??

I'd say the opposite!

Been trying to share the net over a wireless LAN for weeks and it only works when I hold XPs hand and tell it what IPs it should be using.
Otherwise it comes up with some random crap IP and Zonealarm panics and shuts off everything

So do you connect directly to the router on both PCs? Do either PC connect to the Internet?
Check the IP of each PC from a DOS prompt
code:

C:\ ipconfig /all

I take it both machines are on the MSHOME workgroup??

I tried networking my 3 PCs but couldn't get it to work using the Win XP wizard. I managed to fuck all the systems up so formated them (Drew's advice ) and then let the Windows setup do the networking for me which strangly worked. Got fed up with the network in the end so sold one of my systems and then built a new one (don't ask why, i can't work it out myself )
