Price probably??!!

Think the TD is your standard old mans Turbo Diesel, yet the Diesel Turbo was aimed at the younger generation, possibly got a bit more of a "sportier" look to it??

Was away to say phone Glenvarigill and ask, but they're a useless bunch of twats and youd be none the wiser!!

I have a 306 D Turbo. Are you talking about the XTDT? I think these are not as sporty, dont have fogs, fuel caps are different, interior is different (mine has sort of buckets) and generally not as nice as the D Turbo. Just make sure you get a FSH and has been serviced every 6000 miles. Should last forever then, engines are mighty strong. Let me know if youwant any more info.

The DTurbo had the sportier bits such as rear boot spoiler, alloys, front fogs, electric windows (iirc) etc. The XLdt, XRdt, XNdt, XTdt all didn't.
I have a 306 XLdt, great car.. fast and economical.

I should have about £4k, and there group 5 insurance which is a boost

I bought my D Turbo 306 on an R plate 2 months ago for $3500. full service history and 78thou on the clock.
Also be careful to check the interior for wear because a few i looked at had knackered seats and door trim.
Good cars though

Yeah thats me.

Everything said above regarding the DT/TD thing is true.

The DTurbo is the one to go for. Sporty trim, better suspension, interior, alloys, goodies etc. However, they share exactly the same engine as the other less sporty models.

For £4k you'll get a decent motor. Thats 97-98 D Turbo money from a dealer, which is ideally what u want (get a warrenty etc). If you can possibly stretch to it, try and get hold of a D Turbo S. Same engine, but they are rarer, more sought after models, hold their value better, have more goodies etc. The 1998 edition had air con/climate, leather, leccy everything, 12 disc changer etc etc. Basically was made as a GTi6, but with a derv lump.

Its definately worth gettin it fully serviced and checked over when u first buy it, and get it tuned. Go to someone like the Derv doctor (website shown in previous post) who can do the whole lot for you. I know ur up in Aberdeen, but i know people off the PGAC forum who have driven from up there, just coz he knows his stuff and is a perfectionish!

You cant really go wrong when u've got a sexy car that handles superbly, easily tuneably, 45+mpg, low insurance and full of goodies

Matt

PS: anymore questions, just ask
