Just wondered whether the isp provider can actually monitor the files you download using the above programs?

One got caught on Torrents downloading American Pie 3. Universal contacted BT and BT gave him a bollocking! Told him he was on his last warning before he was kicked off.

Duno what program other mate got caught on, sure it was torrents though. Will ask him when he comes online.

Both are on BT Broadband like, so theyre definetly monitoring.

basically you arent anonymous when you use bit torrent, once you connected to a tracker and start leeching/seeding on a certain torrent (such as Linux isos) you instantly have access to all the IP addresses of users connected to that torrent on that tracker (play around with your client, can normally find them in there).

It isnt encrypted, pretty much clear text.

If you use bit torrent, you need to be aware that it isnt safe to use if you are using it to download copyrighted information.

I would think ISPs wouldnt bother you, but if Universal go onto a certain tracker and see your IP address seeding/leeching, they may contact your ISP... THEN your ISP will contact you and kick up a fuss.
