I know this is in the wrong forum, but i really need some 'professional' help. Right, i'm spraying the fairings on my motorbike, have prepped them, primed them, and spreyed them the desired colour, and all of that went fine. However, when I applied the laquer, it came out in a really shitty finish, not smooth at all, but more like blotchy. When you look into the paintwork on a car, you can see your reflection, i would like the same quality of finish on my bike....WHAT AM I DOING WRONG!?!?

somehtign to do with the manufacturing process on bike farings and the reaction to normal paint, happed to a few mates that have done this, in the end phoned up dreammachine and they told them what they were doing wrong

id say leave it a while as the laquer will take ages to harden so dont touvh it
or mebbe what jr said, as i didnt know about that

Left laquer to dry, but just turned out crap. The same happened on the tank, which it metal, so thinking it cant be to do with the fairings themselves. I think maybe a new spray gun might help? Not really sure what to try.

i had this problem when i first did my bonnett, came out really blotchy, what are you using? spray cans or compressor and gun.
Lacquer is a lot thinner than paint, so the best thing to do is lots of very thin coats from quite far away so the paint covers evenly, any slight variation will leave lighter and darker marks. i found the lacquer was the hardest to do.......so i used 2 pack, solves problems easily!

i am using a compressor. With two pack you are meant to have a fresh air supply arnt you, as in a mask with air line...did you have this?

your supposed 2 have one yes but to be honest unless ur spraying everyday and are always in the same environment as 2pack paint their really isnt a great need for it.
Just makesure u are wearing at the very least a good quality mask with twin filters!

i have got a twin filter spraying mask..and some goggles! will it come out with a better finish? Also, are you meant to flat the paint off before putting the laquer on?

the paint finish on 2pack is shit hot tbh.
You can flat the colour off before u laquer but i wud only do this if u have a serious orange peel affect.

the paint has gone onto a smooth surface. Have not used two pack paint, so can i still use two pack laquer on it, ot shall i paint it again? Any idea how much 2 pack laquer it, prob need bout 1l-1.5l

just rough the surface down, you wont need to lacquer the two pack finish, just needs to be compound/cut/polished (machine) to have a really decent shine (and keep the metal flake in the metallic)

on 2pack paint that is metallic u do have to laquer it because it contains the hardner that makes the paint go rock solid!
On flat colours u mix the hardner in with the paint and therefore dont need to laquer it.
If wot ur saying is true wot paint type are u using and who is it made by???
