Whole point of a car is that it's to be driven.

If you can do all that to a car and still drive it then it deserves to win. Otherwise it's a pile of junk.

If its a private car (all your own work/money) then it can be.
Granted tho, being a DIY er myself to an extent (with my car !!) I'd prefer to see people being given credit for their own work, (Jag would win hands down I'd say ) but if there was a category for that then all well and good.
The guy may not have done any work to it himself, but it was a bloody nice car all the same.
He couldve grafted on 24 hour shifts 7 days a week for the whole of last year to pay for the work doing

Looked sweet.

Very interesting point this Claire. Although I whole hearted agree with you that there are two different classes of cars - those built by companies and those who slave away in thier garage at all hours of the day and night BUT where do you draw the line? Its virtually impossible i.e. you said "sposored by a company" what does this mean you could that that exlucdes you as you got some of your bits cheap which could be said to be sponsorship. Its virtually impossible to draw the line. Some people get free paintjobs etc on thier cars yet others might get £100 knocked off for putting a sticker on the window but there is no way of knowing.

Its very fustrating and you hit it all the time - At Max Live last year I completly transformed my car for the same money that another person just spent on bodywork, he paid a bodyshop, i slaved in the garage doing the bodywork, ICE, engine change etc.

But then you just step back and I know I got a really good feeling the feedback on the car, and alot of people who knew what i put into respected it for it. You learn to just ignore the judges in these competitions as you will realised there is soo much more to it than the best X i.e. often the company will have some other feature cars that a Mag will get hold of so it will get the award over another car.

Saw:

Caps (Nova check and fake print)
Bandana

Cardigan (nice...)
Jacket with Burberry collar
Clutch bag

Not all on one person, but that would have been mega bonus points!

Really was shocking. Women were good though - tip for Max Live organisers next year: no cars, just women.
