Had Sky digital since weneva it was out years ago, the box is getting a bit knackered now as its years old and now its stopped working. you get them for free when you sign up now so can i just ask for a new free one or will they charge me?

probs charge you. they give them free if you pay for installation charges

we had o have a new remote for our sky n they charged us for that

Just ring them and say you want to cancel your sub unless they give you a new box for free 
After all, you could cancel and then just order a new one for free

cant restart a contract within 12 months

Only one free digibox per household. If you moved house you could probably get another one free. But if you cancel and start again then you don't get another free digibox.
Try the I'm cancelling as the box is fooked approach. You have nothing to lose.

box remains property of theirs, you pay to fix it (or get one off ebay)
