Hi peeps,

Done a search on this, but need some more advice.

Sometimes upon engine startup I'll get a cloud of white smoke from the exhaust, doesn't happen all the time. Could happen first thing, or after the engine has been run and left for about an 1 hour and started again.

Any ideas people?

Thanking you in advance

Sounds like it could be as simple as condensation in your engine/exhaust, will come out as steam hence the white cloud... If it does it when warm, thats when you should worry...

are you keeping an eye on your coolant level?

also get a mate to start it up for you in a situation when it would normally smoke, and give it a sniff.

Yeah most probably condensation in the system somewhere, maybe in the sump or exhaust. Happens when you do stop-start driving for short distances esp when its cold. Go take it for a good long run for an hour or so down the motorway and get it real heated up. Might solve the problem.

Or it could be the beginning of a nackered head gasket, keep an eye on coolant level and check oil for creamy coloured/mayonaise deposits...
