a 1.6 only does 120mph? my mate mike has a 1.4sport and it does 120

must be something wrong with 1.6's

no must be something wrong with you. your 1.2 will just manage 105 mph, the 1.4 around 112mph and the 1.6 will be 119mph or 121mph depending on engine type.

Yeah, vauxhall ones are particularly bad, esp higher speeds. and there is no way your 1.2 16v is going to get to 120mph without MAJOR mods

my SXi does 105mph. also they have the vented discs same as a sport. not a chance in hell it wil go above 110mph without a VERY big hill and a strong backwind, and even then i'd have to squint at the dials n pray

My old SXi did display 110mph on the clock but my mate fitted his GPS in my car and got a exact reading of 102mph. This was down hill to. On a straight it would only read 100. Now I have a Vectra SRi 2.2 and that reads 136MPH on GPS.

These ppl that are claiming that they got stupid figures, are you taking into account standard wheels Vs aftermarket wheels?

My 1.2 16v Sxi is quicker than my mates 1.2 16v GLS by a fair way...

There's rumours that the late SXI's got a 75 bhp version of the 1.2 16v, where all the other 1.2 16vs i.e. breeze, gls, etc only had the 65 bhp...

I got my SXI rolling roaded and got 81 bhp which suggests mine was 75 bhp standard. I've not heard of anyone with a breeze or gls gettting theirs dyno'd so can't comment.

PMSL at all these ned replies of my 1.2 will do 140 downhill

I have a 1.4 sport and i guess my speedo must be bang on, as needle sticks to 110-111mph and never any higher.

As cybermoneky says, its MECHANICALLY impossible to go faster as your gearbox wont allow you to neither will a coprsas shoddy aerodynamics. So please save yourself the embarresment of reading this in a year or so's time and thinking, "did i actually write that? i was such a ned "
