i set the stations to what i want turn the cr off and back on after 1 or 2 minutes and everything is the same but if i leave it form longer everything in the memory is gone which is really annoying! i had a standard headunit and have now put a sony one in but it came with the adaptor leads and its not even possible to put them in wrong so what have i done?

swop the red and yellow leads around in th connector blocks

Very common problem this, just backing up what Sri5 already said, swap the wires.

you did forget to mention you can buy a lead from audio shops that swaps it around becuase. this one better if you come to sell you can and replace you one back to old hedunit...
