I have a standard sxi, what can be done 2 the engine to give it abit more bhp, without replacing the engine with a bigger one.

I've got the same model as you you and I've got a scorpion backbox and a BFO cone at the mo, it makes it a bit more responsive but not much power.

Got an XE waiting to be rebuilt and to go in.

What you can do if u want is to cut out the middle box and weld in a straight through pipe, makes the exhaust loud as fcuk!!!

Dbilas Flowtec Inlet Manifold ... Replaces both upper and lower parts of the inlet manifold... Plus comes with a unichip, that is mapped as part of the package...

The people I know who have this are running around 105 bhp with standard exhaust / filter...

Not bad considering its 75 bhp standard - shame however that it costs like £800!

Then you could also get a cat back exhaust - to add a extra couple of bhp... Think there is a exhaust manifold to add a couple more... Get some cams, few other little bits... but really the amount of money you'll be spending compared to the amount of power you will be getting is not really worth it.

There was a guy at trax with a 1.2 16v tuned to 144 bhp - without nos.

That inlet manifold thing is the same as an XE conversion though, and engine tuning seems to worry insurnace companies than larger capacity engines.

yup!

the only reason I would consider tuning a 1.2 is if for example you'd just bought a new one and the mileage was like 2000, pointless chucking a brand new engine away to put in something that's done over 80,000!

Otherwise you could always put the 80k lump in - then when you want to sell, put the 2k lump back in and sell the 2.0 16v lump seperate
