was thinking about getting one of these but a mate said that id have to keep standard exhaust coz any aftermarket ones that normally make cars sound nice, and loud, will just bring out the shitty sound that diesels make. is this right cos i thought that diesels sounded better nowadays?or just quieter!

a performance exhaust just lets the gases out quicker. the noise is the gases moving quickly

yeah you might notice a slight performance increase but it would only be slight! You wouldnt get the farty noise (which ppl seem to like ) that you do from a petrol engine with a bb. TBH they dont sound very good with bigger exhausts. I would just de-cat it if its for performance or try and get a quiet after market backbox if its for looks.

diesels are just shite imo, diesel belongs on farms and in lorrys/buses etc.

i know they have improved, but i'd rather have a real car.

an aftermarket exhaust still sounds odd on them

I dont think diesels can replace powerful petrol engines (V's/turbo's etc) but I would take a diesel over a petrol when we are talking about corsas etc as I think they are more fun. Fair enough the 1.8 corsa will beat most diesls but it still feels like it lacks torque IMO which I dont like.

Thats just rubbish now. Deisels are good. If the governent weren't so gay and didn't put more tax on diesel(which costs less to refine) then they would be even better.
