just heard this from a few people on turbosport.co.uk
'there is no such thing as wastegate chatter - the sound is the charge air 'bouncing off' the turbo blades when you close the throttle.'
-is this the fluttering noise ive heard that i assumed was just the dump valve ?
And also what the (sexual) noise when an evo is about to launch, is that just the limiter or is it a wastegate thing ?

my noise is due to me removing the recirc valve and fitting a blow off valve. i was under impression it is was just compressed air

the chattering with BOV's is just when you lift off gentle.... the air farts out rather than surges out

CRB... the "chatter" noise is the air exitnig the system the same way it came in, but backwards LOL
So it echos off the blades.
Which is why a dump valve does help stop lag a tiny tiny bit, as it keeps the blades going the same way (compared to the air forcing them backwards, and causing I think compressor stall, i think??)
Still I love the sound of chatter, I will NEVER put a dump valve on my car!

Shinee was telling me that the chatter was the sound of air being forced back through the wastegate, and the wastegate opening/closing VERY fast. i think.

you do get fluttering of the VTA DV if your on partial throttle and lift off slowly. a DV noise sounds like a sneeze

That is because there is not enough pressure to open the DV, so it comes back out where it has come from (like having no DV), hence the slight flutter.

the DV moves when you lift of because of the vacum

Pop your bonnet, pull the throttle cable and watch the DV then!

mine used to move as soon as the cable was touched. if it did not close then you'd be losing air.
