Ok, timing belt tensioner just gave up on my x16xe in my gsi, no idea what internal damage there will be but guessing will cost around £1500 to check and get rebuilt.
The current knackered engine puts out 147bhp and has 80K on it.
What you recon, buy another engine or fix the current one?

thats what i was thinking, just a bit of a nightmare sourcing a decent engine and getting it fitted etc
If i get the current one rebuilt then i'll know its in decent running order again and could also get internals uprated.
Not sure

vauxhall are too expensive and wouldn't trust them to do a decent job!!
Anyone know anywhere reliable in Scotland that could take a look at it?

I wouldn't bother working on what you've got - get a replacement engine
No hassle sourcing one - I know of a great one for sale, bargain price
