Tell them you suffer from obsessive compulsive disorder and that if you are not at home on a thursday evening to flip the light switches at 8:16pm then spend the next hour washing your hands the world will end.

easy this one.

thursday at 4:59 ask to leave early as you've just taken an emergencey call from the hospital, and some one close to you might die. then when he asks how they are on friday, say "its ok mate, my hamster made it"

Go out on wednesday evening and get smashed, on your way home fall over a few times grazing your hands and face as much as possible, Dont turn in on thursday and then when u go in on friday just say u was assaulted. This way u get to enjoy yourself wednesday night, get a day off work and out of the cocktail party and some sympathy - just as long as u can put up with a few little cuts you'll be alright
