Right, pick up car on thursday and a need a Mp3 H/U. Looking at £250 max, pref a bit less, 2 favourites so far are Sony CDXM8800

For around £210 ish, or Kenwood KDCW8027

for around £220 ish.

What do you reckon to these, or is there better for the budget. I like the Sony, even though must will say they are tat, but opinions please. Also need a stealth shelf, any websites selling these?

I had the Sony CDX-MP80 and thought it was top, no problems with it at all and the sound quality wasn't too bad for my ears so i rate them, even though most people will slate you for it.

That's my two cents out of them two i haven't got a clue Sorry

yeah alpines arent themost flashy, but i have a stereo to make a nice sound more than any worries about what it looks like.
Alpine stuff is like steiny... classy and understated, its not an ott look, but its one i like.

Might be interested come next friday.

What difference does the pre-amp voltage make, cause the Pioneer one has 6v, yet the alpine and sony only have 4v, yet the amp is connected to the battery anyway, or am i being thick

pre outs are used to send signals to the amp, more voltage is a clearer signal in theory, but must amps only like a max of 5 v anyway...

Bloody loud Motoriszed front fasia, trick as fuck display (quoted from max power)

Or, for a little extra....you can get this which has "24-Bit Burr Brown D-A Convertors for pure audiophile performance and a smart graphite grey finish to match" over the original.

Pop into your local halfrauds and have a play with the display....some of the effects are amazing...one of which is a tunnel....which it moves through very fast and looks fooking class

Buy the silver one though as it looks and performs better

the 2 kenwoods above feel very cheap and tacky, the screen quality is poor and you seem to pay for flashing lights, motorised screen and graphics!
i dont know about you but id rather have sound quality over flashing lights.
also the kenwood menus are hard to use, adjustment is awquard but you do get quite alot.
id have a sony over a kenwood and im not a sony fan either!!!
Pioneer all the way!

still like the design of the sony with no buttons, yet would prefer knobs (?) to buttons for searching + vol like on the pioneer. I did like my previous sony H/U but the buttons did feel really cheap and clicky.

Yes they do feel cheap, but aint imo..well built..i've had mine 5 months and not had a problem....everything seams sturdy and solid except the plastic edge cover. The kenwood is good value for money and looks fantastic in the dark with the fluorescent display and your gonna have to wack another tone ontop of tht to hear any major improvments in sound quailty

pioneer is nice, only prob is the small screen compared to all the others.

What type of remote is it that you have? a hand held one, or one to be fixed to the steering colum. I think the car will have stereo controls on the steering wheel, but the cables look like they will cost £40 if i want them to work with the headunit.

it really is down to personal taste really and how disperate you need you h/u.I kinda rushed into buying the kenwood because i was sick of the cd300 standard rubbish that was skipping constantly. The kenwood gave me a great display, 100x better sound and a not so hefty 200 tone price tag.Thing is i bought it from halfrauds, and knew i could return it within 14 days if i didnt like it.I find the more expensize h/u's get ugly...as more is put into the quality and not the "bells and whilstles"....Get what YOU want mate...id advice buying brand new though.....u know...guarantee and return wise etc.
