Ive got a horrible C20XE manifold on my valver off a Astra GSi but it rasps like mad - like its leaking or cracked but havent inspected. Was going to get a new one but was wondering if the Cav one is longer etc? Which models used the same manifold, i.e is Cav & Cally the same and Astra diffo? Which model fits best under the floorpan of the corsa? Would a 'performance' SBD one make much diffo running a std engine with std cams and std management?

Oppinions please... P.S is it the norm for the XE manifolds to rasp like buggery with no cat installed?

yeah, listen to any astra gte or cally 16v, rasp like a mo-fo. my corsa xe is the same. sounds crap. sbd manifold is the boy, but at a cost. ive got the cally manifold on the corsa and it took no modding really. pretty much lined up ok.

its the whole exhaust that makes the sound, wrap will still have the sound coming out the back. sounds crap, everyone laughs till they get beat by a raspy corsa. makes it funnier in my opinion.

need a bigger more flow efficient manifold aswell but yeah, that make it go away. its only at around 3500-4000k on mine, goes after that. sounds like farting

Its deffo comming from the manifold, sounds like from near my feet. The cotton filter does cause some rasp though but sorting that with a new 'sealed' cold air filter. SBD is £200 which ATM i dont have. Getting new system made up soon and will get LARGE silencers put in it cos I want it quiet... we'll just have to see how it is with new zorst I guess, just wondering if the cally/cav manifold lined up better cos my Astra GSi one is a bit on the drivers side and the 'bodge' pipe has to shoot over towards the passenger to line up central to the exhaust tunnel and rest of the system.

i got powerless flow to make a system for me as when we first did the conversion to make it run just cut and shut onto the 1400 system. thats a bad idea as it struggles badly causing too much back pressure, and, more rasps etc. 200 quid for a full twin box 2linch system, fits bang on, still a little rasp but less. reckon i get a worse noise from the filter than the exhaust. i got larger silencers fitted when they did the exhaust as i want it to be quiet and not sound like a boyo mobile.

You really want an air box rather than a conical filter though. You would also be better off using the SFi box... The engine it self is noisy anyway, it's kinda hard to try and make then quiet, but not impossible

yup, sfi box with air box, basically as it was in a astra/cally/cav.

thats my opinion anyway. air filters make xe's sound shit and you aint gonna gain nowt from em

considered possibility of your manifold/cat pipe blowing Tomas?
dunno, mine has sounded pants, but i think it's fom the pap centre section rather than the standard manifold.

if it sounds ok on a standard astra gte/cav gsi/ cally 16v, then why shouldn't it on a corsa??

they rasp like hell on a std astra gte, so thats why they do on a corsa.
