they've had this for ages. Casio had it on one of their watches, where you could upload contacts etc to the watch via the computers monitors - its fairly simple (usually a 0 bit is one colour and a 1bit is another).
But tbh, it would be dead slow for file transfer and id rather stick to good ol bluetooth

64 bit word so it'll be faster than the watches.
Not needing extra hardware is a good factor.
