Last year when I had my MOT my friends Dad did it & because my lights are LHD the beam pattern was wrong. Instead of changing the lights we put tape on the glass so the beam pattern doesn't shine onto the wrong side
Would I be OK to do this again? Do they have to test the amount of light that they produce or is it just the direction of the lights they check
All bulbs etc are working fine & by law they cannot remove the tape as your not allowed to on an MOT
Anyone shed any light on this matter (get it?  )

Well when people travel abroad the only have to put either them reflectors on or you can buy stickers to block the beam pattern
Surely this is only the same?

Takeit ya not got ya old lights then kicking about, i got a spare set of GSI headlights if needs be

I have the headlights but If I dont need to swap them I'd rather not mess about
Also got 2 spare corsas with legal lights if needs be

Your car would fail an mot with beem benders on IF the lights were for a RHD model..
it doesn't state anywhere that they cannot be used for an MOT for LHD headlights in the uk...
therefore chance your luck

yeah the tape is legal as the have to use it on yank imports.

I've been swapping headlamps for the past 3 years... I've got smoked RHD (winter) and smoked LHD for the summer months.

i also change mine, a la joff, i have normal ones for winter, so i can see, and clear glass black back LHD for the summer, with 100 watt bulbs, which i also have to change
