you will need to proove that the engine is infact a 20xe(not a c20xe) and that should be stamped on the block somewhere. and your correct you wont need cat.

Date is also stamped under the oil cap - mines a 91 lump and ive de-catted it. Word is that it goes on the DATE of engine NOT the car, but my local MOT station seems to think otherwise? I've got a good bloke who sorts me MOT's regardless!

The whole car needs to be pre 97 as well to have a de cat fitted to a engine that is pre 93.

So basiclly if you're corsa is an R reg and the engine is pre cat needed then you will still need a cat.

Maybe 3/4 BHP? You dont HAVE to have a cat, it just needs to pass emmisions test.

How do you PROVE the date of an XE then other than the engine code which doesnt have a C in front of the 20Xe and also the 91 stamped under the oil cap?

Joff it cant be a C20XE from a 1990 car, MUST have had a new bottom end? Has it got the old or new belt setup? All XE's upto very late 92 had 20XE on them??

Dont forget, Vauxhall were adding CATs to cars before they were even needed, hence the C part of C20XE.

Well my understanding was that all the 2.0 16v's upto Late 92 were 20XE and didnt run lamba sensors then after that they were C20XE's and DID run lamba sensors. They were fitting cats before late 92 though. - Can anyone confirm this?
