Petrol consumptionin my car has been really high recently , and I couldnt work out why .

Just did a search , about the red tube near the air filter (number 2 in pic) , and it said that with a cone filter , having the red tube sitting there ,would increase fuel consumption !!




Is this true ??

Need to know to what extent this increases fuel consumption , because theres no point getting it checked out if its an easy fix by blocking the red tube .

when i drilled my airbox i left that red thing 'sitting there'

didnt do anything tbh the engine was only a 1.2 8v at the time though.....

You're supposed to block the red tube.

Just blocked it there .

What exactly does it do ?

Any differences I should notice straight away ?

No immediate differences other than the venturi bias release sensor should now be at 30% mass.

Check fuse 17 isn't blown and that your battery is a rectangle shape.

All the red tube dose is pull that little flap open when its cold by vacume sumhow to let warm air into the inlet manifold to stop the throttle body iceing up if you hav a cone filter id sugest blockin the tube off not sure if it will make a diffrance but i did it on myne anyways
