Yes there is a theory & practical test. Most info and prices can be found on this site http://www.dsa.gov.uk/buses.asp

Then you have to pay the driving school. I think mine was about £800 for the training (Monday - Friday) with the test on the saturday morning.

So youve got -

Theory test fee £20.50
Practical test fee £80.00 (weekdays) £98.00 (Saturday & weekday evenings)
Training £800 ish
and a few quid to get the entitlement on your licence.

Depending on when you passes your test/age ect.... you might have to do a test for a 7.5 tonner first(under21), then another one for the the class 2 (over 21), then another one for class 1 if you want it.

Have to get the provisional added to your licence first, forms from post office. To get your provisional you need to take a medical with your local doctor(£20 to £80) then send that off to get provisional (£20 i think) Next is the theory for truck drivers, same price as a car theory i think. Training and test cost £800+ depending on what people charge in your area and normally consists of 4 days of training with test on the 5th day.

Ops too slow! You can go straight to class 2 if your over 21, no point in doing 7.5t if your under 21 as it cost the same as class 2.

Get your work to put you through your class 2. YThey will have to pay for it but they are reimbursed (spelling) fully by the government

I know that a few lads at work are being put through theirs at the moment and one guy is being put through his class1. My work are really tight arsed with money so they wouldn't be putting anyone through them if they didn't get all their money back.
