When you remove it is it supposed to be proper stiff on the spring with no movement what so ever or is it supposed to be moveable with the pressure of my thumb on the end of it?

u will be able to pust it back in gently but not pull it out. it will be quite stiff. its a small motor so will return to its original position when reconnected. Just to let ya know, when u refit it and start ure engine it will rev up on its own untill the motor adjusts itself to get the idle speed right.
