I remember some saying how to get the corsa display to just show the time when you fit a new headunit can anyone tell me how?

No it doesnt, only on certain aftermarket units.
You either need to cut the grey wire with red tracer in the iso block, or cut the blue wire that comes from your headunit harness into the iso block.
