Just rang DVLA as i am after the reg plate B34RDY
i finds out that it came reg standard to a ford Fiesta in 1985
and its last ower swop was in 16 January 2000
so putting the 2 together i recon that a B reg Ford can not really be on the road no longer, so i ring up the DVLA to find out if the cars still on the road (there not allowed to give the owners details out but there allowed to tell u if its Taxed) they tell me its been non taxed for 4 years now (so been scrapped)
so then i asked is there anyway of my getting this numberplate with the car being scrapped his word where
"If the cars gone so has the reg plate"

i would need to have the car/shell get it taxed and MOT'ed before they could do anything as its not just a paper work thing

well gutted i am happy with B20RDY but always since i was kid wanted B34RDY
and some clown has just scrapped it

Its not a question of tracking the car, its a question of that if its scrapped it doesn't have an MOT and therefore can't have its reg transferred off.

its not a matter of who owns the car anymore as the cars been scrapped.
i would have the get the shell (been crushed by now as been off road for 4 years) and get it MOT'ed and taxed before doing anything

if theyve not been notified of it beeing scrapped, try to find out who the registered keeper is(very hard, but worth the hassle?) and then get them to apply for a new log book. Get the V5 through and transfer it into your name. Get an MOT 'written out' for £60, tax the car and move the plate across.

I want something... but don't know what!

But ye... if they don't know about the scrapping of the car... dig about the bushes & find the current 'registered' keeper...
