Hi people,

been looking at the MK3 astra gsi's for a little while now, my old man had one and i would quite like to get one, thought it was a superb car.

why did they produce a 1.8 16v version? Was it any good?

I've wondered bout it for a while and some information would be good.

They tend to produce alot more power than vauxhall state however.

Lots of cars on different rolling roads producing 10-20bhp above stock.

Z18XE in the Corsa with fly by wire throttle and various diffrences makes 125bhp

Yes X20XE was absolute shite, worst engine ever made IMO. Hard to tune hard to do anything to.

wasnt the x20xe the reason they had to restrict the 14xe and 16xe in the corsas? because it was such a poor, underpowered, engine?

ok fair enough. I heard somewhere that they also produced that engine so that they could take it rallying in a certain class? I cant remember who told me now but they said that they produced a limited number of 1.8's so that the astra could be elligable for rallying?

Anyone know anything bout that, i could be totally wrong so if you could clear that one up for me that would be brill.
